The name originates from my roots: the Atacama Desert, located in the north of Chile. It not only refers to cultural elements, but also to the place where one of the largest clothing landfills in the world is found, a consequence of fast fashion.
For this reason, the search for sustainable solutions—such as upcycling and second-hand clothing—has been a natural part of my life.
With the intention of expressing both culturally and politically the experiences and realities of Latin Americans in Europe, this project was born.
Another key goal of Maison Atacama is to collaborate with and uplift Latin American artists—through design, the co-creation of garments and accessories, and ongoing work with queer Latin artists.
